‘Best Picture’ Opener This Friday…

A quick reminder that our new season gets off to a cracking start this Friday with Green Book – a heart-warming drama and ‘Best Picture’ winner at this year’s Academy Awards . (Buy tickets online here or in person at Chorleywood Bookshop).

Dr Don Shirley is a world-class African-American pianist, who is about to embark on a concert tour in the Deep South in 1962. In need of a driver and protection, Shirley recruits Tony Lip, a tough-talking bouncer from an Italian-American neighbourhood in the Bronx. Despite their differences, the two men soon develop an unexpected bond while confronting racism and danger in an era of segregation.

Directed by Peter Farrelly, the film stars Viggo Mortensen, Mahershala Ali and Linda Cadellini.

“a smile every mile…and even the odd tear – a heart-warming road movie.”
