the old man and the gun (Cert. 12)
The last film in our 2018/19 season, The Old Man & The Gun (2018: Cert. 12), is based on the true story of Forrest Tucker (Robert Redford). Following his audacious escape from San Quentin at the age of 70, Tucker commits an unprecedented string of bank heists in the early 1980s that confound the authorities and enchant the public. Wrapped up in the pursuit are police detective John Hunt (Casey Affleck), who becomes captivated with Forrest’s commitment to his craft, and a woman (Sissy Spacek), who loves him in spite of his chosen profession.
Robert Redford says this warm, bittersweet crime drama will be his last film as an actor. It is directed by David Lowery and also stars Danny Glover, Tika Sumpter, Tom Waits and Elizabeth Moss.
War Memorial Hall, Common Road. Doors & Bar open at 7.30 p.m., programme starts 8.00 p.m.
