Festival Coup, Fantastic Beasts 2!

FB2Festival Saturday begins with a morning screening of the fantasy adventure, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald.
Tickets: £6 for adults: £4 for Under 14s – in advance from Chorleywood Bookshop, online or on the door if still available.

This second installment in J.K.Rowling’s Harry Potter prequel has only just left the multiplexes and in normal circumstances we wouldn’t be able to bring it to you so soon.  However, special licence approval from Warner Bros in Los Angeles, means we’re able to include it in our programme – a real coup!

The fact that David Yates, the film’s director, is also the Festival’s patron no doubt helped of course.

But back to the film….Albus Dumbledore enlists his former student, Newt Scamander, to help thwart arch villain Gellert Grindelwald’s plans of raising pure-blood wizards to rule over all non-magical beings, although Newt is unaware of the dangers that lie ahead.

Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family in an increasingly divided wizarding world.

The film stars Eddie Redmayne, Johnny Depp, Jude Law, Katherine Waterson and Dan Fogler and contains amazing special effects.

“The film boasts an astonishing level of visual detail and inventiveness….The Crimes of Grindelwald is rich and intriguing fare that will leave viewers impatient for the next sequel.” Geoffrey Macnab, The Independent

“There’s real magic here, and nothing fake about the emotions which guide it.”
Fionualla Halligan, Screen International

“I’m far from a hardcore Potter fan and yet I was spellbound throughout.”
Chris Hunneysett, Daily Mirror
