THE POST

The Club will be kicking off its fifth season on Friday 21st September with director Steven Spielberg’s The Post (Cert 12).  This thrilling drama is based on true events and stars Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Bob Odenkirk and Sarah Paulson.

In the summer of 1971, the Washington Post faces a historic dilemma: whether or not to publish the Pentagon Papers, a top-secret document that reveals the U.S. government knew for decades the Vietnam War was unwinnable. Executive editor Ben Bradlee (Hanks) and publisher Kay Graham (Streep) debate the best course of action. The two must overcome their differences as they risk their careers – and their very freedom – to help bring long-buried truths to light.

The film is a timely reminder about the importance of the freedom of the press…
