This successful screening took place on Saturday 13th June and featured the big-screen adaptation of Khaled Husseini’s bestselling novel – The Kite Runner (Cert:12/122mins) – directed by Marc Forster.
It tells the story of two young boys growing up in Kabul in the 1970s. They are inseparable friends until a fateful act on the eve of the Soviet invasion, tears them apart. One boy escapes to America with his wealthy father, leaving his former friend behind in war-torn Afghanistan.
Years later, the refugee embarks on a dangerous quest to atone for the wrongs of the past by displaying the ultimate in courage and devotion to his friend.
Partly subtitled, this moving film deals with the universal themes of friendship, love, trust, jealousy, betrayal and redemption.
